The Community Responsibility and Voluntary Work Committee at the Applied College, Najran University, organized an awareness lecture entitled “Introduction to Cybersecurity (From Vision to Leadership)” on Monday, 28 Sha‘ban 1447 AH, corresponding to 16 February 2026, delivered by Dr. Hamad Hussein Al-Mansour, Head of the Development and Quality Unit at the College, with the aim of raising cybersecurity awareness among university students and members of the local community.


The lecture reviewed the concept of cybersecurity and its historical emergence, as well as its importance in protecting devices, networks, and data from digital threats. It also clarified the most common cyber threats, such as malware, ransomware, phishing attacks, and insider threats, while emphasizing the user’s role in preventing attacks through awareness and safe digital behavior.


Dr. Al-Mansour also addressed the link between cybersecurity and Saudi Vision 2030, highlighting the Kingdom’s steps in digital transformation, its progress in e-government and digital services indicators, and its major investments in protecting national infrastructure. The lecture shed light on the regulatory frameworks and national specialized entities, such as the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA), the “Haseen” initiative, the National Cybersecurity Academy, and the National Cybersecurity Awareness Center.


The lecture further discussed the Kingdom’s leading global achievements in the field of cybersecurity and the role of this sector in supporting the national economy. It illustrated practical applications of cybersecurity in daily life, including the protection of smartphones, email, e-learning, and electronic health records, while presenting a set of practical recommendations for attendees on using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and exercising caution with suspicious links and messages.


At the end of the session, Dr. Al-Mansour stressed that cybersecurity “is not a luxury but a necessity to protect the nation, society, and the economy,” calling for the promotion of awareness among all segments of society, investment in training specialized national cadres, and participation in national and international cybersecurity initiatives. The Community Responsibility and Voluntary Work Committee expressed its appreciation for the active engagement of the attendees and their keenness to benefit from the themes of the lecture.
