About

The Academic Guidance and Counseling Committee provides guidance services to students to help them understand the university and college systems and academic programs, and to overcome any problems they may encounter during their studies through group and individual guidance, with the goal of contributing to improving the quality of the college's educational outcomes.

Objectives

  • Develop the academic advising system.
  • Develop students' specialized skills through educational activities.
  • Provide an academic environment that helps students adapt to university life.

Tasks

  • Prepare the committee's annual operational plan in coordination with the Academic Advising Unit.
  • Assign students to academic advisors and provide them with all the information they need related to student advising.
  • Organize an orientation meeting at the beginning of the semester to familiarize new students with university and college life.
  • Provide guidance tools such as study and exam regulations, disciplinary regulations, and guidance forms and deliver them to advisors.
  • Organize awareness-raising and preventative guidance programs for students on various guidance issues.
  • Organize courses, workshops, and seminars to teach students skills that will help them succeed in university and daily life.
  • Identify and monitor students who are struggling academically and organize awareness-raising and therapeutic guidance programs for them.
  • Identify and monitor outstanding students, encouraging them to continue to excel and resolving their problems.
  • Coordinate with academic advisors at the college, organize their affairs, and identify their needs.
  • Follow up on informing academic advisors of student communication mechanisms and guidance hours.
  • Identify students who have dropped out of school and re-enrolled, and hold guidance seminars and meetings with them.
  • Implement a student satisfaction survey on the academic advising services provided to them at the college.
  • Submit periodic, quarterly, and annual reports to the college and the Deanship of Student Affairs at the university.
  • Evaluate the performance of academic advisors using the academic advisor's working document.
  • Implement the committee's projects related to the college's strategic plan and academic accreditation.
