Botanical Garden
The Medicinal Plants Garden affiliated with the Department of Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, Najran University, was recently established in 1444 AH (corresponding to 2023 AD). The garden was developed for research and educational purposes, as it includes a wide variety of medicinal plants that are studied in student courses for both macroscopic and microscopic examination. Additionally, the harvested plant materials are utilized in scientific research.
The garden hosts numerous medicinal plants, such as: Sidr (Ziziphus), Jasmine, Henna, Shadhab, Al-Shar, Vitex, Rosemary, Moringa, Wild Almond, Sage, Halfa Bar, Marjoram, Senna, Ten (Ashr), Bitter Cucumber, Datura, among others. It also contains plants adapted to Najran’s climate, as well as some species that are cultivated under controlled conditions, including adjustments to humidity, temperature, and shading to optimize their growth.
